Tarpaulin warehouses gain space in industrial warehousing | Dino

The Brazilian industrial sector has gone through a period of adjustments and challenges, but it has also witnessed expansion in strategic areas. Data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) show that the national industry advanced by 3.1% in 2024 compared to the previous year, driven mainly by a growth of 10.6% in durable goods and 9.1% in capital goods.

For 2025, a more moderate increase of 1.6% is expected, according to the Confederation of National Industry (CNI) forecast by Poder360, with a focus on the extractive industry, which is expected to grow by 6.2%. But the scenario is characterized by obstacles such as rising interest rates, increased imports and tariffs imposed by the United States, factors that put pressure on internal competitiveness.

In this context, the search for more flexible and economical storage solutions may be intensified. According to Guilherme Thomaz, Managing Partner and Founder of GM Tendas Galgãos, demand for space expansion through acquisitions and rental of fabric warehouses remained steady in the second half of this year, especially in the industrial, logistics and civil construction markets. “Although they are greatly influenced by macroeconomic factors, these sectors are seeking to expand their operational dynamics,” he points out.

Tarp sheds, which are flexible fabric structures that can be assembled over different types of terrain, are cementing themselves as an alternative to traditional construction or metal canopies. Among the factors driving this preference, Tomaz highlights the possibility of customization.

“Tarp warehouses are rented according to industrial demand, taking into account the necessary measures and time, so that it also allows industries to optimize important time, space and cost resources,” he explains.

In addition to contracting flexibility, the Executive stipulates that tarpaulin warehouses also allow for the installation of supplementary systems such as lighting, air conditioning, doors, exhausts and protection from weather discharges (SPDA). Another most notable advantage is the exemption from municipal licenses for assembly, which can speed up implementation.

“Flexible fabric warehouses can be installed on any type of flooring and pavement, such as grass, earth, asphalt, interlocking, concrete and stone, making them a highly efficient covering option for industrial storage,” he highlights.

Diversity in different industrial sectors

To meet the growth in demand, GM Tendas Galgãos has expanded its available warehouse stock and invested in technology, production quality and team training.

“Today we have a large amount of these assets available to industries for various warehousing and warehousing purposes. Moreover, we give priority to technological development and production quality, with the aim of product safety, material durability and quality assurance for our customers,” says Tomaz.

The GM Log® Canvas Warehouses line, developed by the company, offers sheds from 10 to 40 meters wide, with custom length and height, as well as structures up to 5,000 square meters that can be assembled in ten days.

The structures are produced according to current technical standards, with the aim of being flexible to quickly adapt to new storage requirements.

Currently, GM Tendas Galgãos serves everything from basic industries, such as steel, metals, petrochemicals and mining, to capital goods sectors, such as machinery and equipment plants, as well as durable and non-durable goods industries, including automotive, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food, textiles and electronics.

“Industrial orders occur for the purpose of storing products, machinery and equipment, generally for periods that can range from one to 36 months or more,” Tomaz explains.

According to the CEO, the future of industrial warehouses involves improving flexibility and efficiency, with an emphasis on management models capable of reconciling quality and costs. “Innovation horizons evolve towards improvement, serving the market in a personalized, agile and exclusive way according to the necessary industrial demand,” he concludes.
