Growing up without the necessary attention from parents can generate trauma that goes beyond childhood memories. The absence of support, affection, or even gestures of appreciation can affect an adult’s behavior in ways that often go unnoticed.
This may be reflected in difficulties in establishing emotional connections or in behaviors that show insecurity. MinhaVida interviewed experts Larisa Fonseca (psychologist) and Tatiana Cicerelli (pediatrician), who explained the most common behaviors of people who grew up without parental attention in childhood.

1. Difficulty in establishing healthy relationships
Growing up without a caring environment can create fear of rejection and difficulty trusting others. “Some adults develop excessive attachment, seeking constant closeness, while others avoid emotional connections to avoid getting hurt,” explains Dr. Tatiana.
