Tomorrow (3) the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP) will present the Alliance Action Plan to Combat Digital Banking Fraud. The document consists of more than 20 initiatives ranging from prevention, consumer education, enforcement and asset recovery.
The plan should be implemented over the next sixty months. The initiatives are organized into six pillars: fraud improvement and fraud prevention; Intensifying the fight against and suppression of fraud and fraud crimes; Exchange and processing of data and information; Training of agents, private entities and residents; treating and caring for victims; and public awareness of prevention.
The plan presentation ceremony will be attended by Justice Minister Ricardo Lewandowski; President of the National Federation of Financial Institutions (Finland), Christian Coelho; President of the Brazilian Banking Federation (Febraban), Isaac Sidney; and Zeta President Eduardo Lopez.
“The alliance demonstrates that even while remaining competitive, we are capable of acting in a coordinated and responsible manner in the face of digital threats that affect millions of Brazilians,” Coelho says in a note.
For Sydney, the alliance demonstrates the potential to integrate the public and private sectors. “In this way, we show Brazil that in order to combat digital crime, we can break down historical barriers and create collective solutions to confront one of the most serious and complex challenges, namely fraud, fraud and cyberattacks in financial transactions,” the director said in a memo. “The alliance is based on the right to combine information, training and operations,” Lopez adds in a memo.
The National Alliance Against Banking and Digital Fraud was launched in February this year by MJSP and Febraban, with the aim of improving coordination between financial institutions and public bodies to prevent and suppress these crimes. The entity consists of private sector associations and public bodies.
This was stated by Marcelo Pimentel, coordinator of the coalition, last August value The plan was discussed for more than 70 hours in working groups. He said, “Within the plan, 23 initiatives were stipulated. Among these 23 initiatives, others will come, because when we talk about this type of crime committed in this virtual environment, it is constantly changing. Every day there is a new fraud,” adding that the first priority will be prevention.
At the time, Pimental also commented that the coalition would launch a website with content trails to teach residents how to prevent scams.
