Navarre’s president resigns from his post as director of public works following the controversy surrounding the Pillat tunnels Spain

The President of Navarre, María Chevet, left behind the General Director of Public Works of the Forral Community, Pedro Lopez, behind the reform of the suspension to amend the duplication works in the Belat Tunnels issued by the General Intervention of the Executive Authority itself. The prize for this work was given to Acciona and Servinabar, the small company in which former PSOE Secretary Santos Cerdán is involved, according to Unidad Central Operativa (UCO).

A replacement for Pedro Lopez, who has held this position since 2019, will be appointed as soon as possible, as indicated in the Government Charter in a memorandum. This message was sent to groups that support the CEO of Chivite, a PSN affiliate.

The Government of Navarra has announced that it will introduce improvements in the management of the Belate Tunnel works, among which also highlighting a change in the optional management and direct supervision by the Intervention Service of the Ministry of Economy and Farm. In this way, according to the Foral Executive, a mechanism is put in place for greater control and better coordination, which is essential for work of similar complexity.

After learning about Cissy, UPN president Cristina Ibarola asserted that Cissy “is an explicit acknowledgment of the signs of corruption surrounding the segregation in the Belat Tunnels and which we at UPN have been condemning from the first minute.” In a statement, Ibarola held Chevet directly responsible for the “shadow of corruption” surrounding the frequency of the Belat tunnels and the cost of the work. “Chevet opened the doors of the Palace of Navarre to Cerdan, allowing him to camp on his supports, and today, he is still unable to explain how his government awarded work worth 76 million euros to Cerdan,” he censored. In this sense, he described the decision of Director General of Public Works Pedro Lopez as “completely insufficient.” “Lopez was the head of the Turks who served Chevet to please his accomplices and evade his responsibility. He did not even explain why he left,” he said.
