On Tuesday, Spanish tennis player Marcel Granollers and Argentine Horacio Zeballos lost to Italians Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori with a score of 6-7 (4) and 4-6, in their second match in the doubles tournament at the ATP Finals, in which the passage to the semi-finals has become complicated because they are now forced to win the last match.
After last Sunday’s win over Germans Kevin Krawietz and Tim Boetz, Granollers and Zeballos faced the other unbeaten duo in Group A. This equality was reflected throughout the first set, as it had to be decided in a tie-break after the Spanish and Argentine pair saved a break point.
This deciding game was decided after an early rebound shot from Vavassori touched the bar and fell into the other side of the net. After losing the first set, Granollers and Zeballos were forced to come back, but at the first opportunity they lost their serve and their chances in the match were greatly complicated.
The Italian pair proved difficult to serve, winning 95 percent of points on the first serve and conceding no break balls. Finally, Vavasori and Bolelli finished the group with a score of 4-6, forcing Granollers and Zeballos to win the last match against Britain’s Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool to reach the semi-finals.
