On Tuesday evening (12/2), Mirasol defeated Vasco 2 x 0, in Sao Januario, in the 37th round of the Brazilian championship. After the match, Gigante da Colina coach Fernando Diniz said that the team played well but was unable to take advantage of the opportunities it had to score.
The coach said: “We did not play a bad match, quite the opposite, we played a very good match against a very good opponent. If you look at Mirasol’s statistics, any of them, against any opponent, they have statistics that favor them in everything. We had one statistic and we could not convert it into a goal. They had two chances and they took advantage.”

Vasco has 45 points in the table, four points behind Internacional, the first team in the relegation zone, which is still playing in the round. Diniz challenged the club’s position in the national league.
“I think Vasco’s result is bad. We should not have reached this point in the tournament with this result. If we evaluate the performance we gave throughout the tournament, our result should have been higher. We left a lot of points on the table. Here at home, in particular,” the coach said.

Finally, the coach was asked why fans believe they will qualify for the Copa do Brasil final, given the team’s recent matches.
“I think what encourages the fans during the months I have been here is that we have been up and down, but the team has improved. It is not the same team, we have had great moments during this period. The biggest low point was the five defeats, in a very decisive moment we had a very resounding victory over Inter and today we played well again,” concluded Diniz.
