Two young girls were found dead, which is very tragic, and the first question is whether the institute has activated a protocol for suicide, self-harm behavior or harassment. This is how it appears in most titles: whether there is a protocol or not, whatever. If that were the case, we would have been calmer, and we now have an explanation for the inexplicable case, which has been closed. If there is not, the burden of proof falls on the educational center that did nothing and we can blame it. All of us, families, rulers, and media professionals, demand the opening of the protocols, as if they have magical properties. Worse still: as if they were actually useful for something.
Suicide, any suicide and especially adolescent suicide, is too complex an issue to easily point to causes and blame. I will not say a word about two deaths about which we know nothing, and perhaps never will. But in this case, as in other recent cases, we immediately found something concrete to adhere to: protocols. That is, the educational center. That is, teachers and especially management teams. Woe to them if they don’t open the protocol.
