Understanding the crisis in the Bolsonaro family

Hizb ut-Tahrir decided on Tuesday to suspend the coalition it was forming in Ceará to support a possible candidacy of Ciro Gomez (PSDB) for the state government, after the agreement highlighted, in recent days, a struggle over the political conflict between former First Lady Michelle Bolsonaro and the children of former President Jair Bolsonaro. The announcement came hours after Senator Flavio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) visited his father at federal police control in the Federal District – where Bolsonaro is serving his sentence for a coup plot – and indicated that the family rift had been overcome after offering an apology to his stepmother.

  • Meeting cancelled: Sidonio says the delay in sending Christ’s name is not an “attempt to circumvent” the Senate schedule

The withdrawal was approved at a meeting held yesterday by PL in Brasilia. The party decided that it would look for another name for the state elections, because Siro did not satisfy all wings of the family. Bolsonaro supported this position in the meeting with Flavio.

Before the change became official, the senator said he informed Bolsonaro that he had apologized to Michel and confirmed that the dispute with the former first lady had already been overcome internally. After formulating a coordinated attack with his brothers against Michele and calling her a “tyrant” for opposing the alliance in Ceara, Flavio yesterday sought to stress that future decisions in the field will be taken collectively and submitted to his father who, even in prison, will have the “final word” on regional alliances.

According to the senator, Michelle, who is also the head of PL Mulher, still has the power to take positions, as long as she is in line with the clan and has the approval of the head of the family.

– Flavio said: – We are taking an important step here in terms of maturity, showing maturity. — Michelle is part of the hard core here in the party that will make the decisions, because she has a very clear position, very transparent, very honest and she has the vision that, as someone who has traveled all over Brazil, she can collaborate a lot so that we can make the right decisions in every state. What happened was a communication noise and everyone wanted to make it right.

Federal MP Andre Fernandez (CE), who formed the Bolsonarians’ alliance with Cerro in his state, also spoke of the “communications noise” and said he would accept the Liberal Party’s decision.

– I will continue to fight for the state of Ceará to free itself from the clutches of the Workers’ Party, until it wakes up. I’m here to say we’re going to do this composition together. – He said. – I accept the matter from the National Guide and we will rethink and analyze a better future for the state.

The second point: the fight for the championship

The struggle for heroism in the Bolsonaro family gained momentum with the beginning of the former president’s sentence and became public the day before yesterday. In order to monitor the political assets of the Patriarch, Flavio, Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) and Chancellor Carlos Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) joined together in criticizing the former First Lady for trying to interfere in the sewing of the platform in Ceará. According to them, by attacking Fernandez’s alliance with Ciro, Michele was not respecting a direct order from her husband.

In the early hours of yesterday, before Hizb ut-Tahrir announced the suspension of the alliance with the former presidential candidate, Michele used social media to post a note about the friction and strengthen her position against the petition in Ceará, a state she visited on Sunday to participate in the launch of the pre-nomination of Senator Eduardo Girão (Novo-CE) for governor. At the event, Bolsonaro’s wife criticized Fernández and Hizb ut-Tahrir’s approach towards Ciro, who broke away from the PDT almost two months ago.

The third point: separation from Siro

Michele, who again criticized Ciro, calling him a “political fox”, wrote: “I respect the opinion of my stepchildren, but I think differently, and I have the right to express my thoughts freely and honestly.” She added: “I could never agree to lend my support to the candidacy of a man who has caused so much harm to my husband and my family.”

After this position, Michelle received popular support from allies, such as Senator Damaris Alves (Republican-Front Democratic) and former Minister Marcelo Quiroga (PL-PB).
