Junts responds to Sanchez’s gesture that his position has not changed and demands further steps from the government

Junts’ spokeswoman in Congress, Miriam Nogueras, appeared on Wednesday to respond to the gesture made by Pedro Sánchez, who the previous day announced the reactivation of several issues of concern to the Independence Party. Nogueras indicated that Juntes’ position has not changed and that, in any case, more steps are needed to rebuild the relationship. He stressed that Junz would not return to the table unless the government complied with the agreement. “There was a time to negotiate, but now it is time to comply,” Nogueras explained.

Carles Puigdemont’s reporting highlights that Sánchez admitted in two interviews on Rac1 and 2Cat that the government violated some agreements it reached with Junts. For this reason, Nogueras realizes that it is the government that must change the situation. He said: “We are sticking to our position, we are in the same place we were last week.”

Gents also realizes that the government’s announcement shows that it was not impossible measures. “It wasn’t that it couldn’t be done, it was that it wasn’t desirable,” Nogueras said. He pointed out, “We notice that the government is in a weak position. It has lost important votes, such as the deficit ceiling. The Spanish parties only react when they are besieged and see that without the Catalan parties they cannot agree to anything.”

Nogueras also confirmed that Junts’ orders are the same as they have always maintained. “I hope that within a period of time we will be able to celebrate that everything we agreed has been implemented,” he said, and then cited amnesty or Catalan agreements in Europe, the transfer of powers in matters of immigration or representation in international organizations.
