For PT members, Centrão uses the Zambelli case to test the STF

The PT bosses in the chamber see Centrão’s finger in the joint in order to “spare” Carla Zambelli (PL-SP) from losing her mandate after she was convicted by the STF for invading the systems of the National Council of Justice (CNJ).

The reason is the favorite topic of ten out of ten Centrão leaders: parliamentary amendments. For PT members, the case of Zambelli and other Bolsonaro supporters, such as Alexandre Ramajem (PL-RJ), will serve as a “laboratory.”

Workers’ Party members say Centrão’s calculations will be to use the cases of Zambelli and other Bolsonarian parliamentarians to “test” how far the National Congress can go in the face of the parliamentarians’ condemnations.

Depending on the result, the formula could be repeated when the Supreme Court convicts presidents for irregularities in implementing parliamentary amendments, which is the subject of several court proceedings.

Today, some investigations involving parliamentarians due to the amendments are in the hands of the Special Court. They are all still under judicial secrecy, but they are important members of the room at night.

Zambelli acquitted?

On Tuesday (12/2), the rapporteur of Zambelli’s loss of his mandate, Diego Garcia (R-PR), submitted an opinion on the acquittal of Carla Zambelli and the consequent preservation of Carla Zambelli’s mandate.

In light of the decision, the leader of the Workers’ Party, Lindbergh Farias (RJ), warned that he would call on the STF to force the chamber’s board of directors, led by Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), to comply with the Supreme Court’s decision on the convictions.
