Online reservation reaches a hotel occupancy rate of more than 80% to go skiing during the Constitution Bridge

Recent figures show that in some ski resorts, such as Baqueira-Beret, although the hotel occupancy level is as high as 83%, the total number of rooms available is much lower than in other locations, pushing the average accommodation price to €580 per night. These data are part of a trend of higher demand and higher prices during the Constitution long weekend, a period when the snow tourism sector approaches full capacity in Spain and Andorra. According to what eBooking reported in a statement reported by various media outlets, the overall occupancy rate of hotels in major resorts exceeds 80%, a situation driven by low temperatures and snowfall for the first time in November, which positively affected the volume of reservations.

eBooking.com highlighted that Aramón Cerler is the complex with the highest level of bookings, with nine out of ten accommodations already occupied and the average price per night at €180. The volume of bookings is also reflected in Formigal Panticosa, where 85% of accommodation is booked, with average prices of €310 per night. Grandvalira, located in Andorra, ranks third in terms of occupancy with 84% of its places and an average value per night of 220 euros, with detailed online booking.

Regarding the availability of accommodation, eBooking.com noted that Baqueira-Beret is not only experiencing high occupancy, but is also experiencing a noticeable decrease in the number of rooms compared to the other stations analysed. According to the platform, this difference has caused the average price of accommodation available for a long weekend in December to appear as the highest among the destinations reviewed, with €580 per night cited.

Regarding Sierra Nevada, eBooking highlighted that it is the only major stations maintaining accommodation availability as of the last survey. The average cost per night of available accommodation in this season is 220 euros. The media indicated that the municipality of Monachil, in the province of Granada, stands out as the most sought-after destination for those who travel to ski in the Sierra Nevada. Data indicate that this Andalusian resort includes the largest ski slope in the country, with an altitude of 1,200 metres.

According to data provided in the statement collected by eBooking, the combination of favorable ski weather factors and limited room availability had a direct impact on hotel prices. The platform analysis also highlights that the high demand for the Constitution Bridge responds in particular to the successful start of the winter season, which is usually conditioned by weather conditions and the presence of snow on the slopes.

The online booking statement analyzes the different impacts associated with supply and demand during this period, highlighting the differences between seasons in terms of prices and booking coverage. The increase in prices is most pronounced in those locations with fewer accommodation options, while other destinations maintain more stable prices thanks to greater availability, as is the case in the Sierra Nevada, as published by eBooking.com.

Figures extracted from the sector, provided by eBooking, highlight a direct link between improvement in snow conditions and a rebound in occupancy, and also note a trend in prices adjusting as the booking period progresses. It also seems consistent that municipalities close to ski centers with greater hotel infrastructure and complementary services, such as the example of Monachil in the Sierra Nevada, concentrate most of the demand.

Finally, the development of demand and prices at the beginning of winter reinforces the importance of snow tourism in Spanish and Andorran destinations, an aspect that, according to eBooking, finds its most pronounced expression during the Constitution long weekend.
