The ‘Echolalia’ exhibition in Reykjavik reveals that new Icelandic music is in development
Icelandic artist Björk is preparing for a creative comeback for 2026. In addition to indicating that a new album is on the way, she has confirmed a major immersive exhibition for summer 2026 in her home country. The exhibition is titled EcholaliaIt will be held at the National Museum of Iceland during Reykjavik Arts FestivalThe opening is scheduled for May 30, 2026.
The exhibition will occupy all of the museum’s galleries and will feature three immersive installations designed by him Björk In partnership with the British artist James Merry. Two of these works have a name and a date: predecessor and Sad soilBoth are taken from the artist’s 2022 album, Vosura (2022), and was created in honor of her deceased environmental activist mother Hildur Runa Hauksdóttir.
