It was left out of the GOTY 2025 nominees, but there’s no doubt that Elden Ring: Nightreign is one of the most beloved games of the year, even for those who were skeptical of a multiplayer Elden Ring spin-off.
FromSoftware made sure fans loved Nightreign by releasing updates with new bosses, weapons and other newsplus Depths of the Night mode for experts.
After selling more than 4 million copies in just a few months, Elden Ring Nightreign players face a new challenge with The Forsaken Hollows DLC, which will be available from tomorrow.
The abandoned cavities he arrives December 4th at a price of 15 euros (included in the Deluxe and Collector editions of the base game), with a new scenario, new bosses and more reasons to suffer.
Perhaps the most notable are the new characters, scholar (a strategic and support class) and Businessperson (focused on the offensive aspect with great mobility), although geographical changes should also be mentioned.
The Elden Ring Nightreign DLC includes new locations (integrated into a new scenario), more vertical and with some underground areas, as well as new bosses and challenges.
The Forsaken Hollows is not absurdly difficult, its director clarifies
In addition to GameSpot’s first impressions, director Junya Ishizaki dedicated a few words to the main aspect of any FromSoftware souls game, which is none other than the difficulty.
Nightreign players can expect tougher enemies, unforgiving bosses, and overall an even more complicated experience than the base game.
But, according to Ishizaki himself, The Forsaken Hollows is not absurdly difficultgood remains as ”a fair challenge”, even for those who are not experts in the field.
”The Forsaken Hollows is definitely a little more difficult, but it’s not ridiculous or anything, it’s still within what we would consider a fair challenge.”, explains the director to GameSpot.
As an approximation, Ishizaki considers that the DLC is as difficult as playing Nightreign for the first timeso even the most skilled will have difficulty in the first few hours of the expansion.
”We want our ideas when working on DLC to reflect this. So when those who played the main game delve into the DLC, they will be able to experience the same feeling they felt when they first played Nightreign, where there is still something they are trying to discover.”.
We remind you that Elden Ring Nightreign is nominated for the Player’s Voice award at The Game Awards 2025. Will it have qualified for round 2 after the first votes? We will know tomorrow.
