Anvisa prohibits the intake of 3 dietary supplements, including one of ora-pro-nóbis

The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) on Tuesday (2/12) ordered the confiscation and termination of the production of three food supplements sold in the country. The supervisory body warns that their consumption should also be stopped.

The action affected the nutritional supplements Prosatril, Erenobis and Óliver Turbo. The agency reported that all items were traded without being registered with the agency or a registration that guarantees their safety for consumers.

The inspection also noted the use of ora-pro-nóbis (Periskia acoeliata) in the composition of the Erenobis supplement, manufactured by Ms Comércio de Produtos Naturais Ltda.

The use of this plant in industrial food products was banned by Anvisa in April this year due to a lack of scientific evidence on effectiveness and safety.

The tax action also included Prostatril, from the same company Comércio de Produtos Naturais Ltda, which claimed to be a source of vitamin E and zinc, and had registrations with Anvisa – but were false.

The Óliver Turbo, manufactured by Instituto Oliver Cursos Preparatório Ltda, has also been withdrawn from the market. The company falsely claimed that the product was certified by Anvisa to improve studies and increase focus and attention. Claims of such therapeutic effects for any supplement are prohibited.
