The businessman who drove a luxury Audi that crashed into a tree and fell into a stream on Sunday morning (9/11) in São Vicente, on the coast of São Paulo, killing three passengers, has had his arrest converted to preventive detention.
Ruy Barboza Neto, 26, had a custody hearing on Monday (10/11). He was driving the car on Rodovia dos Emgrantes, near Avenida Capitao Luiz Pimenta, when he lost control and crashed into a tree.

After the collision, the Audi fell into a stream and was partially submerged in water. Three of the four women in the car died and another was rescued with minor injuries. According to Military Highway Police, Roy refused to take a breathalyzer test, but a clinical examination confirmed the presence of alcohol in his system.

The businessman is charged with premeditated murder due to probable intent, assuming the risk of death even without the intent to kill.
The case, according to the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP-SP), was registered as a murder at the São Vicente Police Station. The report requested contacting Roy’s defense, but received no response. The space remains open.
