Inditex The organization is moving to adapt to the new social and economic context, where geopolitics plays a fundamental role, and has contracted former Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta to chair its international advisory council.
This textile company’s movement is part of a moment … Very sensitive for the fashion industry as a whole. Trade tensions caused by the US implementation of tariffs require one to put oneself in good hands, which is the reason behind the movement initiated by Inditex.
This council will focus its activities on: Advising the Group’s Board of Directors on geopolitics, international economics and other global issues. Its formation is completed by Taeho Park, Simon Fraser, Rafael Gil Tienda, Anne Lang, Enrique Lloris, and Marcos Trujo, as the company announced today, Wednesday, coinciding with the presentation of its results.
Inditex’s International Advisory Board, the establishment of which was announced at the general meeting of shareholders held in July this year, held its first meeting on November 27.
Letta, who is also president of the Jacques Delors Institute, is the author of one of the most important reports in recent years on Europe, dealing with the integration of the European single market, and is also dean of the School of Politics, Economics and Global Affairs at IE.
High profits
Inditex recorded a net profit of 4,622 million during the first nine months, representing an increase of 3.9%.
Former Prime Minister Enrico Letta embodies the image of the European statesman of the 21st century: A politician with government experience, a distinguished academic, and an intellectual committed to the future of the continent.
Moreover, Letta is an atypical politician and – as is true of his new role – he departs from the paradigm of politics today. He always said that a politician should not cling to the political chair forever, but it is advisable for him to have a career and, after a certain period of work in politics, continue his career.
