The PF pointed to signs of Alerj’s boss being involved in a criminal organization, says Moraes

Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), stated that the Federal Police (PF) had provided “strong evidence” that the President of the Legislative Assembly of Rio de Janeiro (Alerg), Rodrigo Bacelar (Uniao Brasil), was involved in a “criminal organization”.

Moraes made this assessment in the decision in which he ordered Basilar’s preventive arrest. Moreover, he ordered his removal from the presidency of Al-Arj.

“The facts narrated by the Federal Police are very serious, indicating that Rodrigo da Silva Basilar was actively working to obstruct investigations related to a criminal faction and actions against organized crime, including influencing the state executive, which could increase the risk of criminal continuity and unjustified interference in investigations related to the criminal organization. In the case in question, with regard to State Representative Rodrigo da Silva Basilar, the evidence of his participation in a powerful criminal organization is strong.” The minister said.

The National Front reported that Basilar was “aware” of an operation against state lawmaker Thiego Raymundo dos Santos Silva, known as TH Goyas, and warned the parliamentarian and ordered him to remove the items.

“State Rep. Rodrigo Basilar, president of Allerg, takes advance notice of the police action, speaks to the main target of the action and also advises him on removing objects of interest from the house,” the National Front representative said.

Basilar was arrested by the National Police in an operation launched to combat the actions of public officials involved in the leaking of confidential information from the investigation that arrested state Rep. Thiego Raymundo dos Santos Silva, alias TH Goyas. According to the police forces, this illegal action obstructed the investigation conducted as part of Operation Zarjun. The involvement of President Al-Arj was discovered by the National Front after analyzing the materials seized in the September operation. Basselar was arrested at the National Front headquarters after being summoned to attend a “meeting” with the supervisor.

National Front agents are on the streets to execute a preventive arrest warrant and eight search and seizure warrants, as well as a summons to comply with non-prison precautionary measures, issued by the Supreme Federal Court (STF).

On the day of Operation Zargun, the National Police Forces informed that an investigation would be opened to investigate a possible leak of the operation. Suspicion arose because T. H. Goias left his home the night before the operation that was to effect his arrest. The politician was located at another address.
