Skyblivion, the incredible mod that recreates Oblivion with the Skyrim engine, has been postponed to 2026 to ”keep up”

This year we return to Cyrodiil thanks to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, the incredible game from Virtuos and Bethesda, but it won’t be the only opportunity to return to one of the best RPGs in history.

Alongside the Virtuos title, a group of fans known as The Elder Scrolls renovation project They’ve been working on a mod for an incredible 13 years that promises to change everything.

It’s called oblivion of heavenand is basically a complete recreation of Oblivion (from its world to characters, quests, weapons and more) with the Skyrim graphics engine.

It has Bethesda’s approval (in fact, they invited those responsible for the mod to their offices and gave them codes for Oblivion Remastered), and was scheduled to reach all players in 2025.

Unfortunately, it won’t be possible, as The Elder Scrolls Renewal Project confirms that launch will take place sometime in 2026probably from April.

As a fan project, for fans, we need a little more time to make sure Skyblivion lives up to its due. Our planned release date is 2026”, they confirm on social media.

Skyblivion goes until 2026 to ”keep up”

In a new YouTube video, the project leader Rebelexplained why Skyblivion failed to reach its release target this year.

He guarantees that the project is almost finished (it is at its best), but believes that more time is needed to polish each of its sections. They don’t want it to be just another mod.

Rebelzize says that all dungeons, quest locations and the Skyblivion map are completedas well as cities such as Anvil, Bruma or Cheydinhal. The same does not happen with the Imperial City.

The capital of Cyrodiil is the biggest location in the game, so it stands to reason that they will still have to make some adjustments here and there, especially when it comes to the interiors.

The mission-relevant sites are estimated to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2025, and the navigation network as a whole, including quality control, will be ready in the first quarter of 2026.”.

If the team manages to finish the Imperial City locations before the end of the year, that means Skyblivion will be completed (development) to begin in 2026.

The first quarter of the year will be dedicated to integration of the new interface (will be similar to Skyrim) and the polishing phaseso it is possible that the project will be 100% completed by March or April.

They didn’t give a release window, but fans are hoping to return to Oblivion with this hard-working mod starting in Spring 2026, perhaps more focused on the summer months.

Skyblivion is proof that fans can do incredible things, and congratulations to Bethesda for respecting this project. In the meantime, you can try Oblivion Remastered in PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Game Pass.
