Tonight at Banfield Stadium, the 2025 Clausura champion will be decided when they take on Gimnasia and Boca at 7:30pm. The Piazzolle team, recently formed by Fernando Zanerato and led by Ricardo Kuzemca, reached the decisive stages after finishing third in Zone B with 29 points, the product of eight wins, five draws and three losses, with a score of 22 goals to 14. This good position in the table allowed them to play their first home playoff match, a circumstance that was repeated in the remaining head-to-head matches. Thus, Gimnasia always at Estancia Chica beat Newell’s 2-0, San Lorenzo 3-1, and Argentinos Juniors 4-0 in the semi-finals to reach tonight’s grand final.
Top scorer Jorge de Assis, who has just scored three goals in the semi-final against Argentinos Juniors, is a great figure for a team that has shown solidity in goal with Julian Cadevic, who enjoys defensive leadership with Juan Cruz Cortazo, and who has very high individual performances with Pablo Aguiar, Santino López García and Caetano Bolzan. In addition, Diego Mastrangelo has adapted well into the midfield, filling the spot left vacant by Nicolas Barros Schelotto.
For his part, Zenize achieved the best possible position in Zone A because with his 33 sets – from 10 wins, three draws, three losses, 24 goals and 11 goals against – he surpassed all his rivals in the group. At home throughout the qualifying phase, they first eliminated Lanús (1 to 0), then beat Instituto 4-2 on penalties (0-0 in regular time) and finally beat River Plate 2-0 in the Super Clásico played in Ezeiza.
