The President of the Federal Supreme Court, Edson Fachin, distributed to Minister Alexandre de Moraes a decision to suspend the decision of the Court of Justice of São Paulo that allowed motorcycle taxi service in the capital, São Paulo.
The measure is from Solidariedade, a party that supports Mayor Ricardo Nunes (MDB), and is opposed to the launch of the method. The TJ decision allowed companies such as 99 and Uber to offer the service from December 11.
In the past, Moraes was against motorcycle taxis, when he was Minister of Transport for the city of São Paulo, under the administration of Gilberto Kassab.
In 2009, in an article by L bound, He said that “there is no argument that can be used to increase the risk for those who constitute the most vulnerable part of traffic: those traveling on bicycles and motorbikes.”
In the same year, he indicated in an interview with the Roda Viva program that the number of deaths would increase if the service was launched. “From the first moment I took a position and I remain opposed to motorcycle taxis in São Paulo,” he declared.
