Strong crossing between Agustin Rossi and Luis Pietri by the Ministry of Defence

The two former defense ministers and lawmakers exchanged phrases in the special session after taking their seats

Luis Petri and Agustín Rossi They starred in one of the most powerful debates of the extraordinary session on Wednesday 3 December, in which the 127 national representatives elected in the elections of 26 October took their seats. The focus of the crossing was the position of both the ruling party and the opposition, but included the passage of management bills in the Ministry of Defence, an area for which both were responsible at different times.

The exchange took place minutes after the president left Javier Miley Congress, whose presence has already inflamed the anger.

In this climate of euphoria and hostility, Petrie, a former defense minister and current MP for the Liberation Army League, addressed the body with a message that sought to distance itself from previous administrations and the legacy of Peronism in the region.

According to the words collected at the scene, he said: “We have come to bet on dialogue, but not on the agenda of the past, not on Kirchner’s agenda, sit-ins, and blackmail, but on the agenda of the future, for which the majority of Argentines voted. An agenda that proposes modernizing work, to end the defeat of poverty in the Argentine Republic.”.

She did not wait for the reactions of the Peronist bloc, and while the cries of “denial” continued, Petrie doubled the ante: “The truth is that you know that, I recommend that the Peronists go to the psychiatrist. The founder of Peronism was a military man and was the Minister of War, and they feel comfortable putting a lot of money in the Ministry of Defense, but why don’t they go to the psychiatrist,” answered Petrie, sitting next to MP Juliana Santillan, who responded with gestures to the screams and shouts that came from the opponent’s bench.

The mention of the former minister was also interpreted as a defense of the appointment of his successor, Carlos Presti, who became head of the defense portfolio after serving as Chief of the General Staff of the Army.

response Agustin Rossialso a former defense minister and leader of Peronism, arrived later. When asked directly, Rossi told the room: “We Peronists are proud to be Peronists. We are proud of Juan Domingo Peron, of being a party of more than 80 years, of our history, of the governments of Peron, Nestor and Cristina. We continue to raise the same values and the same flags that these workers raised on October 17, 1945. We raise and defend the values of more than 30,000 of our colleagues. “Missing,” he began.

Then he added: “We are here to defend the popular representation of the 35% of Argentines who voted for us, and when Representative Petri wants to talk about defence, we talk about defence. What he did was disastrous. Go increase the salaries of the military, go settle the debts they owe, and in three years IOFA goes bankrupt.”

Throughout the day, the polarization of postures and gestures was reflected from building to building: from the careful preparation of seating before LLAPassing through the chants and shouts in the stands, all the way to the isolated section with political slogans and angry discussions between representatives such as Lilia Lemoine, Marita Velasquez and Nicholas del Cagno. Juan Grabois He starred in one of the most prominent episodes by making provocative movements towards the presidential podium before and after taking the constitutional oath.
