Flamengo defeats Ceara on a beautiful night at the Maracanã and confirms its victory in the Brazilian Championship

Just like in 2019, red and black people will never forget the week they are having. After spending days celebrating their fourth Libertadores championship, it’s time to celebrate Brazil’s championship. With its 1-0 victory over Ceara in the Maracanã, Flamengo reached 78 points and confirmed its victory in the Brazilian League title for the ninth time in history.

Although there is a certain similarity between the seasons due to the winning of major titles on the continent, the welcome difference for fans is that this time the achievement came on the pitch. If the Reds and Blacks raised the cry of Brazilian champions in 2019 in the streets of Rio de Janeiro – where they will certainly remain until Thursday morning – this time the title came where it belonged: in the Maracana Park, a place where Filipe Luis’ men have put on a show on several occasions throughout the year.

Therefore, nothing is fairer than an offer outside the four matching lines. During the heyday of Brazilian football, Flamengo fans once again filled the stadium and had a great party from the moment the team entered the field. There was everything: cardboard with the club’s shields, red and black flags, a three-dimensional mosaic with the words “King of Hearts” on it, and of course provocations towards Palmeiras, runner-up on Saturday and Wednesday evening.

“And now your people seek the world again.”

On the other hand, the fact that Flamengo did not show the same excitement on the pitch that came from the stands. Clearly tired from the series of decisive matches and of course from the fair celebrations of the last few days, the team was far from possessing the routine attacking momentum and defensive pressure that saw it have the best attack (75) and best defense (24) in the Brazilian League. But none of that matters. After all, a simple 1-0 win was enough to confirm the title with one round to go, hence the almost perfect performance of the more than 73,000 fans who were at the Maracanã.

He came to the feet of Samuel Leno. After a pass from Carrascal and a beautiful shot from Jorginho, the R$160 million striker finally had his moment to shine when he scored the goal that gave Flamengo the Brazilian title.

But the Flamengo season does not end there. As the fans sang along during the win over Ciara, the red and black people are “asking the world again.”

Immediately after facing Mirasol – there is a possibility that the match will be moved to Saturday, to facilitate the logistics of traveling to Qatar – Flamengo will face the Confederation of Confederations. In the quarterfinals, the opponent will be Cruz Azul Mix. If they win, the Cariocas will face Pyramids EGI. If all goes well, the decision will be against Paris Saint-Germain.

In an already historic season, why not think of bigger trips? By bidding farewell to the Maracanã in 2025, the red and black reinforced their dream. So the ball is in the court of Filipe Luis’ men. And if there’s one thing Flamengo has shown in 2025, it’s that this team deserves the trust of its nation.
