MTST performs its work in the Women’s Secretariat, managed by Tarcisio – 04/12/2025 – daily

Members of the Movement of Displaced Workers (MTST) of São Paulo staged a protest in the lobby of the State Secretariat for Women’s Policies of the Government of São Paulo, in Itaim Bibi, on Thursday (4) morning amid the fallout from recent femicides.

According to the movement, the action, which ended around noon, aims to demand more resources in policies to prevent and combat femicide – which broke a record in October this year in the capital, São Paulo.

The posters were critical of the Tarcisio de Freitas (Republicans) government and the Ricardo Nunes (MDB) administration, with messages that the managers had “blood on their hands”. They also showed former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and a phrase said in 2014 by Congresswoman María do Rosario (PT-RS). At the time, a federal MP, he said he would not usurp the parliamentarian because she “doesn’t deserve it”.

There were also posters bearing the image of influencer Thiago Schutz, known as Calvo do Campari, who was arrested last Friday (28) on suspicion of domestic violence.

The law called for measures, in addition to anti-violence measures, to prevent violence against women, with action in schools and the creation and strengthening of community groups on the subject. Representatives of the movement claim that they were received by the Secretariat Committee.

High percentage of female pesticides

According to a survey by the São da Paz Institute, the capital, São Paulo, was the scene of one in every four femicides committed in the state. Comparing the first ten months of 2025 with the same period last year, the increase is 23% in the city. Regarding 2023, growth reached 71%.

The data reinforces the historical trend of violence against women: The majority of cases occur in the home (67%) and victims are killed with sharp weapons or blunt objects—tools used in more than half of the crimes in the state.
