The European Commission decided Expanding the perimeter that is considered an infected area Due to an outbreak of African swine fever discovered in Catalonia. This measure, which raises the number of affected localities from 64 to 91, requires the implementation of “temporary emergency measures” to stop the spread of the virus. Among the restrictions is a ban on the export of pigs and their derivatives from these municipalities until further notice. The decision will remain in effect until February 2026.
New map covers Eight districts in the province of Barcelonawith 23 municipalities in Valles Occidental, 20 in Valles Oriental, 27 in Pécs Llobregat, five in Barcelona, 10 in Maresme, two in Alte Penedes, two in Anoia and two in Bajes. The European Commission excluded Osuna, the region with the highest concentration of pig farms and one of Catalonia’s main pork production and export points. The Segrià region does not appear on the list either.
