Grande Rio takes action after attacks by alleged Virginia fans

Grande Rio had to intervene to avoid creating another such chaos. After the school’s profile was invaded with comments from supposed fans of Virginia Fonseca (the current queen of drums of the association), the Duque de Caxias Board of Directors chose to deactivate the comment box for the post which, until then, did not have anything controversial: a video of Thaena Oliveira, daughter of Helenio Oliveira (one of the school’s presidents), and samba alongside Eduardo Gutierreza new source of inspiration for red, green and white.

Among the messages left by supposed fans of Virginia, one caught attention for its harsh tone: “You have samba on the tip of your tongue, just get down to your legs.”

Grande Rio’s reaction spread quickly across the networks and among carnival experts, who tried to analyze the episode as if they were already preparing themselves emotionally for everything to come between now and February. One said: “The school had to block comments on a house member’s post because the Drum Queen’s idle fans were attacking the dancer who in turn is the daughter of the head of the school. Even Ash Wednesday will test the patience of the Tricolor of Caxias.”

Another member of the school tried to maintain his composure, but ended up expressing general annoyance: “I thought a lot before coming here in an excited mood and removing the seriousness of the problem. Comments directed at other passers-by on Grande Rio’s Instagram from Virginia fans are extremely disrespectful and should not exist under any circumstances.”

Relationship with her mother-in-law

In a recent interview with this writer from CapitalsVirginia gave a behind-the-scenes look at her relationship with her mother-in-law, Fernanda Cristina, and she was full of praise.

“Mum is amazing. She’s with me, and she made sure to come and support me. It’s been a very good relationship. She helps me with the kids, plays with them. The kids love her. The whole family supports me and it’s been great.”

Virginia found great support in Vinny Jr.’s family when she was in Rio de Janeiro: “I’m staying in the house (Vinny Jr.’s family) and I feel at home. You know when you don’t miss it? For me, I’ll be there for another month. Reception. Affection, love, everything!”
