The salary discussion has been suspended for several weeks in the province of Buenos Aires. Although there were meetings between the Buenos Aires government and the unions representing the state and teachers, there was no offer on the table. Everything was related to the approval of the province’s budget and debt laws.
In this context, after the Buenos Aires legislature this morning approved the debts, one of the unions has already made its position clear.
In this case, the Association of State Workers (ATE) requested through a memorandum to the Ministry of Labor of Buenos Aires “the reopening of the discussion of the collective bargaining table of public administration, with the aim of giving continuity to the negotiation of salaries corresponding to the period 2025, in this context where inflation continues to put pressure on the pockets of state employees.”
“We consider it necessary to urgently call a joint meeting to close the year with a new increase. State employees need to continue rebuilding our purchasing power, because we are losing due to policies of the national government that attack workers in general and state employees in particular,” said Claudio Arévalo, Secretary General of ATE in Buenos Aires.
In the readings of the text, they highlighted from ATE that “From our organization, we consider it essential that we can continue to work together, between the regional state and the unions, to maintain an open and lasting partnership, allowing us to modernize the assets of the employees of the State of Buenos Aires, with the aim of ensuring that salaries are not lost at the hands of inflation, but also, that we are able to restore the purchasing power of salaries.”
