The anti-narcotics chief of the National Police of Valladolid was arrested on Thursday, at 9:00 a.m., in an anti-drug operation carried out by the Department of Internal Affairs in Madrid.
Sources close to the case confirmed to EFE that the inspector is accused of keeping part of the drug caches seized in various operations. These also indicate that the detainee maintained a “high standard of living.”
EL ESPAÑOL Noticias de Castilla y León confirmed that the detainee is the husband of Cortes Castilla y León, a lawyer for the Citizens and current advisor of the Popular Party in the Arroyo de la Encomienda City Council.

In addition to this inspector, a number of other people were arrested. They are not police officers, but are involved in drug smuggling crimes, according to official sources.
The package included closing off several areas of the Delicias Police Station, where the detainee worked. Internal Affairs agents gained access to internal offices to secure materials and documents related to the investigation.
Internal Affairs contacted a number of the group’s agents to take statements from them as witnesses and to find out the scope of the case.
The operation remains open and kept under complete secrecy, as confirmed to this newspaper by the delegation of the Government of Castile and Leon. Therefore, no further information has been disclosed regarding the volume of material allegedly stolen or the detainee’s possible connections to external networks.
