For the 36th year in a row, the Correios Santa Claus campaign is encouraging letters sent by children from all over Brazil to Bom Velhinho, where they place their orders for Christmas gifts, which range from toys, shoes, clothes and school supplies.
Before the campaign, the letters had no destination, and the children were left without gifts. But Correios employees decided to work together to turn the drawings and messages written on paper into reality.
Over the years, the campaign has grown, and in 2025 there will be more than 320,000 messages available, which godfathers and godmothers can adopt. According to the post office, nearly 200,000 have already been collected for gift donations.
In addition to letters from socially vulnerable children up to 10 years of age, since 2010, students enrolled up to the fifth year of primary education in public schools have been invited and have also submitted their applications to Santa Claus.
Cards can still be obtained online. The campaign requires that it be handwritten and in a clear handwriting, and it cannot include the child’s phone number, photo, or address.
This data is collected when the letter is delivered to an entity that acts as a collection point or through a form on the website.
Letters can be approved until December 15 in São Paulo state, while dates vary in other states. Simply go to an agency or access the campaign website, click “Online Adoption,” select an agency and follow the instructions.
Gifts must be delivered to the delivery point closest to the location shown on the site, according to the specific time of the city and point. It must be well packed and identified with the corresponding approved letter code.
