
Several bus lines in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA) began to stop operating on Friday, affecting thousands of users. This measure comes due to companies not depositing the remaining 50% of salaries.
Tensions escalated when the union issued a statement on Thursday evening confirming that if salaries were not paid in full, it would order the cancellation of salaries. Retain assignments in those companies that are not committed with their obligations. This measure will affect services from 00:00 on Friday and will remain in place until drivers receive their full salaries.
The text signed by the Secretary General, Roberto Carlos Fernández, stated that “in the absence of verification of the collection of salaries,” an order will be issued to block tasks in those companies that have not paid the wage, and this measure will be maintained “until the salary is not received.”
UTA stressed that the salary “is the daily effort with which workers fulfill their work obligations and constitutes direct support to our families.” For this reason, he demanded immediate payment and warned that drivers “cannot continue to work if this basic right is not fulfilled.”
He also urged the authorities to intervene to prevent the conflict from escalating. “We request the use of legal and administrative means to avoid situations that affect social peace and affect our colleagues and the population in general,” the document states.
The partial strike affects various urban and suburban services in the country, depending on the jurisdictions and which companies remain in short supply.
In parallel, This Monday the group increased. The minimum ticket in the city is already $593.52, while in Greater Buenos Aires it is $658. This means there are three different prices at AMBA, with national jurisdiction services rising in mid-November and the minimum being $494.83.
Quest lines include: 22, 28, 44, 101, 153, 159, 172, 174, 219, 242, 253, 298, 300, 317, 321, 324, 372, 383, 583, 584, 603, 619 and 624.
Florencio Varela’s lines (500, 501, 502, 504, 506, 507, 508) were also affected by abstentions.
Exception: El Nuevo Halcón declares a regular service, as the lines under its responsibility collect the full salary.
