
Nurses will cross their arms for 12 hours on Wednesday (12/11) in the Unified Health System (SUS) of the Federal District (DF).
According to the nurses’ union (SindEnfermeiro-DF), this group seeks salary equality, professional restructuring and improved working conditions through strike action.

The health professionals will form a motorcade, gathering from 8am in parking lot 12 of Parque da Cidade. At 9 am, they will depart towards Palacio do Poretti, where the event continues in front of the local executive headquarters.
According to the union, the group suffers from a deficit of more than 1,800 professionals in the network. He also states that he faces a shortage of supplies and complains of unstable hospital structures.
“There is a hospital where half the nursing team is missing. The nurses are working in two shifts, without sufficient materials, and they are being charged as if they were in full working order,” said SindEnfermeiro-DF President Jorge Henrique de Souza.

In a memorandum, the Ministry of Health (SES-DF) stated that it recognizes that the union struggle is legitimate under a democratic legal system, and added that it maintains an open dialogue with the groups.
He added, “The Ministry highlights that the public nursing competition held in 2022 provided 101 immediate vacancies and reserve registration training.”
Since then, the SES-DF has nominated 537 successful candidates for the position, according to publications in the Official Journal of the DF (DODF).
He added: “The department also worked continuously to increase the number of professionals in the public health network, as 294 additional nurses were appointed in 2024 and 2025.”
He concluded by saying: “We emphasize that the GDF continues to plan for new appointments.”
