In addition to the parliamentarians, lawyer Marco Aurelio de Carvalho, coordinator of Prerogativas, Secretary of Institutional Relations of Belo Horizonte, Zhou Zheng, and Chair of the OAB Law and Religious Freedom Committee, Isabella Dario, were present. The ceremony was proposed by Council member Pedro Rousseff (PT), nephew of former President Dilma Rousseff.
“When we honor Prerogativas here in the chamber, we officially show how much Belo Horizonte cares and is grateful for all the work the group has done for Brazil and for my family,” he says.
Founded in 2015, Prerogativas has been critical of Operation Lava Jato and, as of 2018, has embraced the banner of the unconstitutionality of President Lula’s arrest. The group supported the Labor Party in the last election.
With many members participating in the government, the organization worked to coordinate meetings between civil society, business people, and members of the federal government.
On December 15, Prerogatevas will receive the São Paulo State Human Rights Award. The event takes place in Largo São Francisco, at the University of the South Pacific, from 7 p.m.
