Founded in 1975, Drovet, the national distributor of animal health products, celebrates half a century with a successful generational transition and the goal of becoming a comprehensive supplier to the veterinary sector in the Southern Cone, driven by a market with strong development potential.
Born in 1975 in Rosario, Droft began distributing products for large animals and gradually expanded to cover a large part of the national territory. It is currently a leading distributor of veterinary medicines in Argentina, covering pig, beef, dairy cattle and pet products. Its geographical expansion has included branches in key points such as Junín (the first), Santa Fe, Resistencia, Santa Rosa, San Francisco, and more recently Salta, Tucuman, Río Negro and Mar del Plata.
Martin DeLuca, Managing Director, highlighted the high potential of the sector by pointing out that Drovet operates in two growing worlds: production animals (which meet the growing demand for animal protein worldwide) and pets (where the pet is a “family member”, leading to increased investment and specialization in the field of health). Either way, Martin DeLuca concluded, “the bar is very high,” constantly stimulating new investments and developments.
In half a century, the company has shown great flexibility and adaptability. Riccardo DeLuca, co-founder and director, highlighted that Drovit had to overcome droughts, floods, hyperinflation, withdrawals from banks and extreme fluctuations in the prices of livestock and veterinary products.
The company’s strategy is based on three pillars: operational excellence, closeness to the customer, and corporate social responsibility with the veterinary community. “We constantly strive for excellence in all aspects of the company,” stressed Riccardo DeLuca.
Drovet has invested in its future. In 2015, the generational shift began with a focus on professionalizing management through team development and incorporating new tools and processes. This included strong investments in infrastructure and technology, highlighting the opening of a state-of-the-art logistics center in Rosario in 2023 with an area of more than 2,000 square metres.
In the field of regional outlook, the company took a decisive step at the beginning of 2024 by opening its first branch outside the country in Montevideo, Uruguay, already completing its second year of activity in the neighboring country.
In terms of volume, Drovet represents more than 100 laboratories, maintains a permanent stock of more than 4,000 references and annually reaches around 4,000 clients among veterinarians and agricultural producers.
As part of its identity and added value, the company annually organizes the Latin American Veterinary Congress, which this year celebrated its ninth edition with the presence of nearly 1,500 people and 40 companies in the sector, positioning itself as one of the most important events related to veterinary training in the region.
Drovet’s strategic goal is to become a “one-stop supplier to the veterinary sector in the southern region of Latin America”, offering a complete value proposition to its customers’ needs. To achieve this, the company is integrating new business units related to nutrition and non-medical products, among other projects.
