Rodrigo Caetano, Executive Coordinator of the Men’s National Football Teams, gave an interview after the group stage draw for the 2026 World Cup, on Friday (5). The director explained that he would visit the “base camps” to familiarize himself with the Brazilian team’s logistical matters during the first phase of the competition.
“As Ancelotti said, tomorrow our matches will be decided, as well as the sequence and location, and we will begin a new visit to the ‘FIFA Base Camps’. We will be with the team, and on Sunday, we will study all the possibilities available to us. I ask for understanding, as we will be calm and make technical decisions, taking into account also the climate issue, which concerns us. However, it will not only be this issue that will be in our analysis for decision-making”, stressed Rodrigo Caetano.
“We have done our inspections over the last six months, more than once. What happened now with the lottery, we eliminated the possibilities in the West. So, we are really focusing on Boston, New York and Philadelphia. With this, we will now take the whole team to make this decision. I think the issue of hotels, and the issue of the training center, without a doubt, having the best possible working tool, are important points. And the issue of the shortest distance to travel, we will not have everything. We usually say, we will not be able to have everything we want, but let’s choose these Priorities so we can get as many of them to our advantage.”
The Brazilian national team is in Group C of the 2026 World Cup, along with Morocco, Scotland and Haiti. Brazil’s first match will be on June 13 (Saturday) against Morocco.
More from Rodrigo Caetano:
Preparation in Brazil: “It’s our commitment. We’ll all meet in Brazil, stay in Granja (Comari) for a few days and say goodbye, that’s the goal. I don’t classify the friendly as a tough encounter, but it’s a farewell to the Brazilian people, and then, yes, after that we’ll all go together, the whole delegation to the United States and our goal is the World Cup. It’s the understanding that we have, our people are getting closer and closer, and the Seleção needs to transfer this energy to the World Cup.”
Friendly matches: “Just to confirm, we will face France and Croatia on the 5th of March, but soon, depending on some negotiations that we are still having, to give you the correct date. There are some variables that we need to wait a few days, but we will have that definition soon. Just to complete, Fabio, how focused we are on this planning issue.”
