Flavio Bolsonaro says Tarcisio supports his candidacy “whatever comes”

The governor of São Paulo state was one of the first to learn of former President Jair Bolsonaro’s decision

BRASILIA – Senator Flavio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) said on Friday the 5th of this month that the governor of São Paulo, Tarcisio de Freitas (Republicanos-SP), guarantees support “whatever comes.” Flavio announced that he has been chosen by his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), to be the PL’s candidate in the presidential race in 2026.

Flavio said: “When I spoke to him (Tarcisio) to talk about how to deal with President Bolsonaro (…) he said: You can count on me for everything that happens.” The statement was delivered to the Metropoles portal.

Also on Friday, Flavio confirmed that he will be the candidate for the presidency of the group in 2026. “With great responsibility I confirm the decision of the greatest political and moral leadership of Brazil, Jair Messias Bolsonaro, to give me the task of continuing our nation’s project,” Flavio wrote in a post on his website. X.

Before speaking publicly about the matter, the senator informed the Liberal Party and Tarcicio of Bolsonaro’s decision.
