The European Commission granted Galdar City Council an exceptional income of 685,000 eurosThis is a number in addition to the five million received in the first call for the Integrated Sustainable Urban Development Strategy (EDUSI) 2014-2020. This institutional support confirms the Council’s competence in implementing European funding, an aspect that is particularly monitored by community organizations.
This measure is part of the exceptions approved by the European Union, which increased joint financing to 100% for those projects that were accurately completed. Galdar completed all phases: implementation, justification, certification, and verifiable results. In addition, it exceeded the targets set initially, allowing access to this additional financial recognition.
Seven strategic lines transformed the municipality
The EDUSI project published by Gáldar is articulated in seven main areas related to the climate and digital and social objectives included in the project. Agenda 2030. Each measure was aimed at improving the quality of life of citizens and promoting a more sustainable, inclusive and smart urban model.
Digital infrastructure and smart city
One of the most obvious focuses was integrating technology to move towards a model Smart city. Comprehensive rehabilitation of Sardinia Beach

The works included redesigning roads for pedestrians and updating street furniture.
