Sports Editorial, December 6 (EFE).- Spaniard Arian Toro won, on Saturday, the bronze medal in the under-52 kilogram category at the Tokyo Grand Slam Judo Championship, by defeating Japan’s Kisumi Omori in one of the repechage finals.
The 22-year-old judoka Navarrese emerged victorious in a match against a high-level opponent in Omori, winner of this year’s Paris Grand Slam and who regularly podiums at major tournaments on the world circuit.
The Spaniard, winner of the continental bronze medal the last two years in Zagreb and Podgorica, was penalized for two “Shido” throws and was therefore in danger, but she held on and eventually got the point that gave her the win and a place on the podium.
Before reaching that moment, Toru also fell to Japan’s Nanako Tsuboni, but in the rematch she was able to enter the battle for the medals by defeating South Korea’s Seon Jang.
