Indonesia records more than 900 deaths after storms

The number of deaths due to floods and landslides in recent days has exceeded the 900 mark on the island of Sumatra in Indonesia alone. This information comes from the Southeast Asian country’s National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), in a report released on Saturday (6/12).

According to the latest update, the death toll in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra provinces has risen to 908 people, and 410 people are still missing.

The three regions were subjected to days of heavy rain, causing rivers to overflow, landslides, and severe damage to transportation infrastructure.
