Quito, December 6 (EFE) – Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa began his visit to the United Arab Emirates by laying a wreath in the Oasis of Dignity, as part of a new international tour that began this time in Spain and ends in Norway, the Andean Presidency said on Saturday.
Trade, technology and the fight against corruption are among the topics of the tour, which began with the delivery of 1,500 scholarships to Ecuadorian immigrants in Madrid, the capital of Spain, from where he traveled to the United Arab Emirates to meet with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with whom he will sign bilateral agreements.
He will also meet with Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the United Arab Emirates, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to strengthen trade relations and cooperation in the field of science and technology.
Noboa will be present, on Sunday, at the official presentation ceremony of the Ecuadorian Embassy in the United Arab Emirates and at a meeting with the Ecuadorian community. He will also hold a meeting with the Minister of Artificial Intelligence, Omar Al Olama.
The official agenda includes a signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of integrity and anti-corruption, and another to develop the technological innovation corridor.
Counselor Gabriela Sommerfeld, who is accompanying Noboa on the tour that will end on December 11, indicated last Wednesday that the president’s meetings will relate in particular to “investment projects, the financial project with the country, as well as energy projects.”
In addition, the Minister indicated that the Casa Ecuador project will be inaugurated, a project that seeks to “demonstrate the opportunities that Ecuador has in the world.”
Noboa will then head to Norway, where he is scheduled to attend the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony on December 10, at the request of Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado.
Noboa’s recent travels came under the public eye after, between November 18 and 20, after losing the referendum and the popular consultation he promoted, he made an official trip to the United States, but his schedule was declared “secret.”
At the end of November, he announced another trip to the United States that ended on Monday, but then indicated that it would be for personal activities. Evie
