Tarcísio wins BOPE honor and praises massive operation: ‘They didn’t back down’

São Paulo Governor, Tarcisio de Freitas (R), on Friday (5/12) received praise from the elite forces of Rio de Janeiro’s Military Police, the Special Operations Battalion (POP), and praised Governor Claudio Castro (PL) for the massive operation that left 117 people dead.

The operation was exploited by right-wing rulers, who saw the case as an opportunity to oppose the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva under the banner of public security.

The Governor of São Paulo published a post on social networks thanking him for this honor. “The last operation in Rio de Janeiro tested them to the extreme, but they once again proved their worth and did not back down in the face of the enemy. Here are my gratitude and best salutes to the Special Operations Battalion in Rio de Janeiro, and to all who continue to fight for a better Rio and Brazil, as well as to those who fell in the mission and sacrificed themselves for this cause,” he said.

Tarcisio also praised the governor of Rio de Janeiro. “Thank you also to Governor @claudiocastrorj, who did not let his guard down in the face of the challenge of returning true freedom and sovereignty to the people of Rio de Janeiro.”
