“I couldn’t be more proud of radio and television in this country”

RTVE presenter Xabier Fortes publicly showed his support for the company’s decision not to appear as a participant in the next Eurovision Song Contest.

“In the 37 years that I have worked at @rtve, I have publicly criticized certain things that I did not like. Today I would like to say that I could not be more proud of my country’s public radio and television.. THANKS!”.

This is how Fortes expressed his support for a measure taken by the entity regarding the presence of Israel in the next edition, country to which Spain had vetoed the song festival due to its war against civilian targets in the Gaza Strip.

The journalist agrees with the words of President José Pablo López who declared: “Last night we learned that the vote on Eurovision was not spontaneous but rather Israel has been operating in the shadows for months. “What looked like a democratic debate in Geneva was just a farce concocted in the offices.”
