The entire election campaign has changed. Just a week after PP and Vox signed an agreement to invest in Juanfran Pérez Llorca president of the Valencian Community, the PP has now modified its strategy and launched an attack against its Valencian partners and against those who, everything indicates, will become new among its partners also in the autonomy which now goes to the polls.
The turning point was clearly seen in the act of commemoration of the Constitution in Congress, where both Alberto Núñez Feijóo and several PP baronets attacked Vox without a miracle. The popular people criticized the ultras for being absent from the institutional acts of this Saturday, and the most critical person was the leader of the PP. “Vox broadcasts things that seem very dangerous to me,” Feijóo said in a conversation with journalists, accusing Santiago Abascal of “dismissing his responsibility” as representatives.

Feijóo highlighted the inconsistency of Vox representatives, who want to be inside and outside the institutions. “What can you do to be elected without taking an oath to the Constitution?” he asked rhetorically. The leader of the PP insists that he can be very critical of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, but his duty is to help Congress express its differences, since “Mr. Sánchez does not represent the Constitution.” Several popular barons have also criticized the party of Abascal Vox for its absence during the act this Saturday, like that of Murcia, Fernando López Miras. “Not being here is a mistake,” he said angrily.
The PP’s attack on Vox can be explained by the context of the electoral campaign taking place in Extremadura and which will last several months until it ends with the elections in Andalusia next June. But also for a current of indignation which lives outside the PP towards the believing and condescending man who meets his right-wing rival.
Some popular barons have seen excessively the Valencian pact, in which the PP showed its weakness in front of Vox by assuming the right speech of the far right by rejecting the European green pact and immigration, and they believe that the PP must now be firmer. “When we meet, we eat each other,” graphically reflects an autonomous president.
The PP is further outraged that Santiago Abascal this week considered the possibility that the PP will prevent María Guardiola from winning the extreme elections if he wants to reach an agreement with Vox. “Is it a broma?” Feijóo told reporters. “Is the objective that whoever wins cannot govern? “That is why you are present in the elections?”, Abascal criticized.
Feijóo hopes that if Guardiola obtains more votes, the entire Vox izquierda will abstain from his inauguration because “there would be no legitimacy for the blockade”, but the people are aware that they will have to deal with the ultras, who have warned that the price will increase in Extremadura compared to the Valencian Community. Some baronets privately emphasized in this act in Congress that under no circumstances could the PP agree to separate its candidate to create a pact. “Elections are repeated every time there is a shortage.”
But Vox adheres to the PP and does not show signs of wavering in its demands, as revealed by the situation in Aragon, which is about to become the fourth autonomous community that will stand for elections due to the Abascal blockade of Presupuestos. The Argentine President, Jorge Azcón, has clearly signaled to Congress electoral support in Aragon if “in a week” he does not obtain support for his public accounts. Everything indicates that he could be converted during the second electoral campaign, behind Extremadura, with half-fever elections.
Due to the electoral environment, the PP also turned to Junts. After weeks of more or less subtle courtship with the separatists so that a possible motion of censure against Pedro Sánchez could be raised, Feijóo launched a new attack against Puigdemont, accusing him of being “a clínex among the brothers of Sánchez”. The leader of the PP continues to support the motion of censure, but he believes that he will arrive late to the presidency of the Government, even after the closure of Parliament by Sánchez, and he said today that he has ideas to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Constitution, which will not be completed until 2028.
The opposition leader believes that time is on his side, because over time more and more legal problems appear for Sánchez, especially in the Koldo and Cerdán case. It also drags on in political crises, provoked by some of its barons.
The Valencian crisis is, however, still closed, as revelations continue to emerge about Mazón’s mishandling of the tragedy of the tragedy ― such as the messages that were exchanged with the Emergency Council, which revealed that Mazón and his entourage were aware of the seriousness of the situation from the first hour of the afternoon―, from those who had to respond to Feijóo with inconvenience. “The Popular Party has passed the final page,” it was said.
Also in resurgence is the organic relief of Mazón, who continues to be president of the Valencian PP in all its effects. The PP wants to close it before the end of the year if possible. Popular sources say that Pérez Llorca will also assume leadership of the party, without the need for a congress, but with an agreement within the board of directors.
