Thieves wear postal uniforms in failed attack on jewelry store

A jewelry store in the center of São Gabriel da Palha, northwest of Espírito Santo, was the target of an attempted robbery that attracted attention due to the behavior of the suspects. Two armed men arrived on the scene Thursday afternoon (04/11), one of them dressed in a uniform similar to that of the Post Office, hat and mask, in an attempt to go unnoticed in the street.

CCTV cameras recorded the moment the accomplice, who was waiting on a motorbike in a black raincoat, received the fake postman before they both entered the store, located on Rua Graciano Neves.

According to the victim, the armed suspect announced the robbery by pointing his gun and forcing employees to go to the back, where the owner was.

Even under threat, the employee managed, in a moment of distraction from the criminals, to trigger the establishment’s alarm.

Hearing the sound, the duo became desperate and fled on a motorbike before they could take away any items. However, before leaving the scene, the criminals still made threats saying that they would return.

The case was registered at the municipal police station and the suspects are still at large. So far, the civil police have not been able to identify them.
