What was supposed to be a party turned into a riot involving rubber bullets and pepper spray. This Saturday (12/06), Flamengo supporters performed the famous “AeroFla” to encourage the team’s players. However, the rally ended in confusion involving Rio de Janeiro’s military police.

The confusion began at the entrance to the cargo terminal of Tom Jobim International Airport in Galeão. After the Flamengo bus entered the terminal to disembark the players, some supporters pushed the bars that prevented them from approaching the delegation.
However, another part of the crowd quickly contained the individuals and, when everything seemed to have returned to normal, the Rio de Janeiro military police intervened. Police fired rubber bullets and pepper spray to disperse supporters, causing a huge stampede around the airport.
Some fans weren’t feeling well and needed help to calm down and feel good again. While most supporters left, others threw stones at military police during the confrontation.
Flamengo heading to Qatar for Intercontinental
Wednesday (10/12), Flamengo faces the Mexican Cruz Azul, in Qatar. The ball rolls around at 2 p.m. (Brasilia time). The winner of the duel, titled Derbi das Américas, will face Pyramids, from Egypt. Whoever advances will face PSG in the final.
