Who was Débora Maia?

Débora was the mother of three children: Yasmin, a university student, Mel, 21, and Lukas, who died at a young age. Grieving for her firstborn remained a defining part of her career – she even tattooed tributes to the boy on her hands.

After the separation, Débora lived alone and maintained an active presence on social media, where she had tens of thousands of followers. There, he shared everyday moments, family archives and closely followed Mel’s career, celebrating the actress’s debut and new works.

In October 2024, Débora even published a post on Instagram deploring a conflict with her daughters. “I am saddened by many absurd things, but I will tell you this. All the love that has been given has turned into ingratitude, and this for people you would never suspect. I feel like trash in front of my daughters, who chose the unknown over their mother’s love,” he wrote at the time.

In addition to following Mel’s artistic life, Débora also worked as a businesswoman and advisor. She worked on managing her daughter’s career during her early television career and, more recently, advised 11-year-old surfer Lorenzo Abreu.
