Costa Adeje Tenerife held off an entire FC Barcelona team at home, but ended up losing in the final moments (2-0). Eder Maestre’s men were very confident in defense and left the Liga F leader without ideas in a first half without shots on goal. After the break, the Catalan team went even further and harassed the framework of a blue and white team that also had its options on the counter, although the insistence of the Blaugrana team ended up weighing down with two consecutive goals in the final stages.
The defensive solidity of the Tenerife team was noticeable from the start, leaving the leader of the category without ideas, who dominated possession but did not know how to find the spaces to generate clear goal finishes during the first moments of rhythm and without actions to highlight.
The first game with a certain feeling of danger came around the half-hour mark thanks to a shot from Sydney from the edge of the area which crossed too far. In the response moments later, Elba Vergés was the only player to reach the Costa Adeje Tenerife area when he headed, well wide, a free kick from the side of Castelló.
In the 39th minute, Alexia Putellas fell in the area during a dispute with Natalia Ramos and coach Pere Romeu requested a review, but the referee saw nothing punishable and the first half ended without goals and without shots on goal by either team, despite the superiority with the ball of a FC Barcelona unable to cross the blue and white wall.
Returning from the locker room, the Blaugrana team shifted into high gear and two minutes after the restart they gave the first serious warning by Sydney, entering from the left profile and looking under the far post, where Clau Blanco appeared to clear next to the line. Gramaglia responded quickly on the opposite side by collecting a serve in space and shooting crosswise as he arrived in the box, catching Cata Coll.
Barça’s harassment intensified as the minutes passed and Nay Cáceres had to work hard to deflect Pajor’s goal just enough; as well as Vicky’s long shot attempt. Despite this, Gramaglia once again almost scored the Warriors’ goal by remaining unmarked in the area during a counter-attack, once again facing a worthy intervention from the culé goalkeeper.
Finally in the 83rd minute, the Catalans’ insistence was rewarded after a wall by the right-footed profile of Aïcha Cámara, who reached the baseline and served behind so that Ewa Pajor only had to push into the net. Three minutes later, taking advantage of the bad mood of Eder Mestre’s team, Alexia Putellas made it 2-0 with a left-footed volley after Graham’s cross from the right of the area.
