On the eve of the championship decision, McLaren team principal Andrea Stella said the dispute “is in the hands” of the team, but stressed the team needed to demonstrate its true worth in Sunday’s race. The statement comes a week after strategy errors in Qatar, which damaged Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri’s chances of fighting for victory, the podium and even the title itself.

“The world title is in our hands, but we have to show our worth tomorrow,” Stella told Sky Sports F1. The manager admitted that after wasting opportunities in the final stage, McLaren could not repeat the same mistakes at the decisive moment.

According to him, the intention is clear: to give both drivers all the necessary conditions to participate in the championship. “We have to give Lando and Oscar their chances and opportunities to win the title,” he added.

McLaren reaches the final under pressure due to inconsistent performances in the previous stage, but Stella ensures there is full internal focus to correct mistakes and allow Norris and Piastri to fight on equal terms in the most important race of the season.
