The management of Odorico Roman intends to begin discussions with the Portuguese, ex-Botafogo, in the coming weeks to replace Mano Menezes
The future management of Grêmio, under the presidency of Odorico Roman, plans to hire coach Luís Castro for the next season. Thus, a meeting between club representatives and the Portuguese coach could take place in the coming days, online. The information comes from the “ge” portal.
After his time at Botafogo, the Portuguese commander is open to the possibility of returning to Brazilian football. However, the focus is on the takeover of a club which gives it the opportunity to play a decisive role in the reorganization of the structure of football.
It is worth noting that the coach has been without a club since the beginning of the month, when he signed a contract with Al-Wasl of the United Arab Emirates. He led the team in 12 matches, with seven wins, four draws and just one defeat.
Furthermore, it left the team in fourth place in the national championship, first in Group A of the Champions League Two (second division on the continent) and qualified for the quarter-finals of the Emirates League Cup.
The continuation of Mano Menezes’ work is not guaranteed for 2026. The coach has a contract until the end of this season and the trend is that he directs his last match against Sport, this Sunday (7), at 4 p.m. (Brasilia time), on the Ilha do Retiro.
