Assessment
“Datafolha: the recovery of the Lula government stagnates at 32%; disapproval is at 37%” (Politics, 5/12). It is not possible that there are still sane people who disapprove of the Lula government with all the positive economic indicators. The survey clearly shows how many people are not informed about the reality in Brazil. This is why so many people are elected and why the people suffer.

We urgently need a third way to unify the population again! Stop this Lulism and Bolsonarism. We need someone with strategic planning for the country.

Bad government suffers at the hands of a hostile Congress. Modest economic growth, distorted unemployment rate because it leaves out people who are not looking for work and those who are underemployed. I will always be grateful for saving us from authoritarian rule, but that’s it.

Kingdom
“Flávio presents himself for 2026 as Bolsonaro’s choice in the face of resistance from the center” (Politics, 5/12). Naming your son as heir is a matter of monarchy and not democracy.
Angela Luiza S. Bonacci (São José dos Campos, SP)
Violence against women
“Where are the men? Where are the men?” (Mariliz Pereira Jorge, 5/12). The barbarity we are witnessing is absurd. And active support from men is essential.

“Brazilian hospitals fail to listen to or involve patients in clinical decisions, research finds” (Health, 6/12). The vast majority of Brazilian hospitals are a steamroller where, as soon as they walk through the door, the patient becomes hostage to an entire cold, crushing and often tortuous system. Most treat the patient solely as an object to make profits at the expense of health plans.
