Expected champion, Flamengo bet on an alternative team to bid farewell to Brazilian Championship and ended his participation with a lively 3-3 draw against Mirasol during a match organized at the José Maria de Campos Maia stadium.
While the holders traveled to Qatar to play the Intercontinental, the locals relied on the strength of their base and finished at the top of the scoreboard three times. The São Paulo interior team, however, maintained their unbeaten record at home and finished the competition unbeaten in their home field.
Eight-time champions, Flamengo changed their logistics and traveled with the main team to prepare for the Intercontinental. It was a golden opportunity for the youngsters from the U20 team to show their service and put forward their candidacy for the following season. Douglas Telles and Guilherme Gomes, twice, were the highlights and will certainly be used by the main team in 2026. With the draw, Flamengo finished the Brasileirão with 79 points.
Mirassol, on the other hand, was the sensation of the year in Brazilian football. Listed as a candidate for relegation at the start of the Brasileirão, he finished the competition undefeated at home and, as a bonus, in his first participation in the national elite, he already secured fourth place, with 67 points and direct classification for the group stage of the Libertadores 2026.
The Flamengo kids started the match wanting to show off their serve. With strong marking, he dominated possession and translated his volume into opening the scoring after seven minutes, with Douglas Telles grabbing the rebound inside the box. The only one from the professional team on the field, Michael had the chance to develop, but stopped at Walter. Mirassol took a while to move away, but when they found space, they equalized with Chico Kim, at 12, taking advantage of a backheel pass from Felipe Jonathan.
The duel remained open, with opportunities on both sides. Forced by an error in São Paulo’s marking, the Rio team regained the advantage in the 30th, with a beautiful goal from Guilherme Gomes, finishing from outside the area. Detail: the ball hit the crossbar before entering. Before the break, the São Paulo team equalized the score again, at 40, this time with Alesson, after a cross from Chico Kim.
The Flamengo U20s retained their personality after the break. Light on the ground, he exchanged passes and reached the goal with ease. In a great offensive intrigue, Telles crossed for Wallace Yan to test firmly, Walter defended, but Guilherme Gomes grabbed the rebound to score his second goal of the match, at 13. The intrigue continued and Mirassol then looked for a draw. Carlos Eduardo launched a cross, Dyogo Alves saved it and Cristian pushed it into the net, in the 19th.
Midway through the second half, Mirassol began to control the match. With more experience than his opponent, he began to dictate the pace, with more ball possession and to nullify Rio’s attacks. Danielzinho and Felipe Jonathan removed the paint from Dyogo Alves’ post. In the final straight, the duel became more open again, but the physical challenge weighed on both sides and the intense duel ended in a draw.
