The Glorias do not end with the procession of the Virgin of Amparo and All Saints; It’s the epilogue that we’ve been calling for since yesterday, but Until December 22, Seville celebrates the processions of these devotions so anchored in the city. one of them … is the one made by the Pur et Propre of Postigo, a sculpture of great importance, one who professes great devotion, to whom he can pray 365 days a year at any time in his chapel, the Virgin to whom Pope Saint John Paul II prayed, knelt and presided over the Eucharist he celebrated at the 45th International Eucharistic Congress.
To this it must be added that this ordinary procession, this time took place normally on the scheduled day and time, which means a return to routine in the brotherhoods, served to commemorate the 25th anniversary of his canonical coronation. Last year, he had to modify his schedule and his days due to the II International Congress of Brotherhoods and Popular Piety.
It was the big day in this brotherhood. In the morning, the Archbishop of Seville, Monseigneur José Ángel Saiz Meneses, chaired the main function of the institute in the parish of El Sagrario, in front of the imposing main altarpiece by Pedro Roldán, in one of the temples with the greatest influx of faithful today, a completely renovated church that shines in all its splendor. Shortly after, barely lunchtime, the procession began to organize itself. Everyone immortalized the moment in front of the Virgin, the Patio de los Naranjos was a hive of people watching the exit, a gift for the tourists present during the visit to the Cathedral.
The association of the faithful of the Virgin of Kings presented the gold medal of the Patroness of the Pure and Clean for her 25 years of coronation. That’s where it all started a procession inside the Tabernacle and the Patio de los Naranjos, in silence, crossing the most important monument in Sevillejust like the Cathedral. Once crossing the lintel of Puerta del Perdón, Master Tejera’s group raised the level with its sounds, a formation which, whatever the time of year, does not change style, music or idiosyncrasy.
Lots of people in a crowded old townmany of them are only interested in admiring the Christmas lights, but always leaving this space to enjoy processions like the Pure and Clean and to commemorate one of the most important feasts of the Church, such as that of the Immaculate Conception, of which Seville is a reference for being the Marian city par excellence.
The Virgin visited the surroundings of the Cathedralhe entered the Plaza de la Virgen de los Reyes to prostrate himself, one more year, before the monument of Saint John Paul II, continuing through the Plaza del Triunfo and return triumphantly to the Arenal district, an emblematic place in which he visited the temples of the three penitential corporations: Las Aguas, La Carretería and El Baratillo, churches in which he resided last October for his silver anniversary and, now, before returning to his canonical seat, he returned for a few moments to each of them as a sign of gratitude.
At 8:30 p.m. the procession ended. The Virgin will pose on earthly ground on the day of her feast to celebrate her kiss of hand, but before, at night, the prickly pear, after having performed in the Plaza del Triunfo, will also visit the Pure and Clean chapel. It is time to reaffirm the devotion that Seville professes to the Virgin Mary.
